About the Floor

Engineered Hardwood Flooring, Made for Your Home

Engineered hardwood is built in layers: a real hardwood wear layer on top of a plywood or high-density core. The layered construction helps it resist the expanding and shrinking that humidity can cause in solid wood.

That stability makes engineered hardwood a favorite for very wide planks, for basements and over concrete when installed properly, and for homes with radiant heat when the product allows.

Music City Floor brings engineered hardwood flooring to homes and businesses in Nashville and across 21 Middle Tennessee cities.

Questions About Engineered Hardwood

Still have a question?

Call 615-357-7797

What is the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?

Solid hardwood is one piece of wood. Engineered hardwood has a real wood layer over a layered core. Solid can be refinished more times, while engineered is more stable and works in more places.

Can engineered hardwood be refinished?

It depends on the thickness of the wear layer. Thicker wear layers can often be sanded and refinished once or more. We check the product specs with you before you buy.

Is engineered hardwood waterproof?

No. Engineered hardwood resists humidity changes better than solid wood, but standing water is still a problem. For wet rooms, waterproof vinyl plank or tile are better choices.
